Who's Wedding is it? (Preston Bailey)

Recently named as one of the best wedding designers in the world by Vogue Magazine, Preston Bailey has been globally-celebrated for his unique ability to transform ordinary spaces into lush, theatrical environments. This has helped to establish him as the premier event designer for a client roster that includes celebrities, royal families, CEO’s and athletes. Since opening his design studio in 1980, Preston has been sought out to create one-of-a-kind, transformative designs that serve as backdrops for some of the most memorable moments of his clients’ lives.

A designer with a passion for creating designs to be enjoyed by the public as well as his clients, he has created a number of art installations which featured across the world with showcases in New York, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Taiwan, and London. He was recently commissioned to do a few installations in Macao. “I love creating something that everyone can enjoy. As an artist, this is important to me,” he says. This passion also translated into his tabletop linen collection, a collaborative effort with Nuage Designs.

His dedication to supporting and remaining accessible to the industry initiated the idea for his PB Protégé program, a series of specialized masterclasses that offer mentorship and education to industry professionals at all levels. Additionally, Preston is the author of seven books–five of them bestsellers.

Comedienne Joan Rivers not only became a client to Bailey, but a personal mentor as well, supporting him to expand and develop his business. Rivers hired Bailey to plan two important family events, a small luncheon where she invited thirty friends to hear about her recent trip to India, and her daughter Melissa's December 12, 1998, wedding to John Endicott. Designed and executed flawlessly in his signature "over the top" style, both events would become memorable parts of Bailey's portfolio.

“Bailey is still learning, too... from couples whose customs require him to adapt and reinvent and also from his inspiring inner circle. “Two years ago, I got married,” he shares. “I’ve done thousands of weddings. But when I married, I finally got it. You think it’s going to be special, but what you really experience is incredible. Nothing prepares a couple for the joy, the excitement, the amount of love that people freely offer you.” Now, he recognizes: “Wherever I go, and whenever I do a wedding, that couple has the same amount of emotion, which I’ve learned to respect tremendously.” - weddingstylemagazine.com

“If you don’t know who Preston Bailey is, he is like a God of the event designing world. He comes up with some of the most spectacular designs and floral concepts and can transform a space in an awe-inspiring new world. If you want to see some of his incredible work, check out his books, Preston Bailey Celebrations and Preston Bailey’s Fantasy Weddings.”

“For the end of bridal fashion week in New York, Preston Bailey teamed up with The Knot to create a dramatic statement for their Gala and a dramatic statement it was! He created this huge bride in a wedding dress made of all lush flowers and a his and her’s poodle also made entirely out of flowers next to it. She had a floral hairpiece as well. The sculpture was displayed in front of the New York Public Library. Wish we lived there to see it. We have never seen so many orchids, roses, and hydrangea together in one creative display before. It’s PHENOMENAL to say the least. Words don’t even do it justice.”
